Festival of lights...

With a flurry of lights,
Leaving a trail of smoke behind,
A loud sound is heard beyond a mile.
They celebrate the festival of lights,
Content and with a smile.
Going out and about town
Adorning new clothes,
In various hues and style,
They celebrate the festival of lights,
Content and with a smile.
I look at them wistfully,
And then look at my house,
The goddess of wealth hasn't yet,
Blessed it with her presence,
New clothes, crackers and the works,
Are difficult for a daily wage earner to afford,
As I see the silent yearning in the eyes of my kin,
I know it will be a while,
Before we celebrate the festival of lights,
Content and with a smile!



Even the smallest gesture from your end will go a long way in brightening up someone's Diwali. 

This year, spare some thought and try turning Diwali into a festival of smiles.

Things are not going your way, Black is more evident in the gray, Not a smile on your face, Nothing gives you solace.. Everyone and everything appear distant, In favoring you, luck seems hesitant, You feel time is not on your side, and there is nothing you haven't tried. Just when you think it can't get worse, Something happens and life seems like a curse, You stop smiling and give it all up, Not half filled, its an empty cup. I am the same as you, Having felt this,in times old and new. But now when i look and ponder, It all makes perfect sense, i realize in wonder. The cup was always filled up to the half, I found no reason to not laugh, There are little joys around in every season, Always believe everything happens for a reason. I don't wish for a fairy tale....

Neither the red roses, nor the candle light.. No popping of the bubbly on a moonlit night.. I don't live on the rainbow, the huge castle isn't mine, long tresses are Rupenzel's, without the genie i do just fine! Not the sea shore bonfire, limo is too huge for two.. Dont want a life queen size.. only love n comfort will do! All of it is impressive but am not looking for materiality.. I dont wish for a fairy tale.. just a beautiful reality..
